Inauguration of the Protocol Training of PRIORITY Trial comparing single dose IV Iron infusion with daily oral Iron supplementation for the treatment of moderate postpartum Anemia by Dr Nitin M Gangane, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi on May 24, 2023 at JNMC Women’s and Children’s Health Research Unit in the presence of Dr Elizabeth McClure and Dr Jennifer Hemingway-Foday from RTI International USA, Dr N S Mahantashetti, Principal, J N Medical College, Dr M C Metgud, Professor of OBGYN, Dr M S Somannavar, Professor of Biochemistry, Dr Avinash Kavi, Associate Professor of Community Medicine and Dr Umesh Charantimath, Associate Professor of Community Medicine from J N Medical College, Belagavi.

The objective of the study is to compare maternal anemia at 6 weeks postpartum between women who are randomized to receive a single-dose infusion of IV iron or standard care with oral iron after delivery.

JNMC Women’s and Children’s Health Research Unit leading the implementation of the project at NICHD Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research Sites in India (Belgaum and Nagpur), Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Guatemala with funding support from National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Foundation of the National Institutes of Health and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
